Sorry Neighbors!

BLINDS! That's right! No more peeking in, neighbors! Our house is no longer a 24-hour show. Our neighborhood is full of walkers. I always catch them looking in our large, wide-open windows. I even see people driving by and stopping or slowing down. When it's dark outside and our lights are on it is an excellent view from the whole neighborhood. This is why I'm so excited to have blinds! And our house is feeling more and more like a home. These pictures make me want to get some curtains going too though...someday!

Let the Projects Continue!

So we basically stopped everything after we moved in and replaced the windows. We're getting back into gear now that the sun is popping out and we have family coming to visit! It's mostly Lane going at it actually. I will post pictures as things get finished but he is finishing up the corner in our bonus room. The walls still weren't put in because they were working on our heat pump and plumbing and such. So the drywall is screwed in, just waiting for some texture and paint (next week?)! We also finally ordered blinds for all our windows (going in Saturday)! We also purchased our base trim, so that's waiting to go in as well.

Project "Back Splash" took Lane 2 days. He did an awesome job, it looks great! He figured out how do to it and just went to town. We might add a wood strip at the top of the slate line, and we still need to screw in the outlet covers, but there's our beautiful kitchen!

Lane has already started on the fireplace. We got the same slate as the back splash for the fireplace only larger squares. That project will probably be finished within the next couple days, I can't wait! We're even considering covering our entry way floor with the slate too.

Soooo pictures of the blinds, base trim, wall downstairs, and fireplace should be updated soon! And then the outdoor projects begin!

Newest Temporary Fix

Ok, so we spent the first month or so with our clothes in bags/boxes/suitcases just jammed in our closet--which was fine except we wore the same weeks-worth of clothes over and over because we didn't want to dig. So we purchased this $20 hotel rack as a temporary fix. Seemed like a great idea until we hung 95% of both our hang-up clothes...

...It lasted about a week and then collapsed. So we lived with our clothes collapsed on the floor for another week and then Lane decided to crack down and purchase these more reliable temporary fixes. SO much better! We can live like this for a year or two until we do the custom shelving.
Ps. My clothes start after that red shirt in the middle...and mine are pretty spread out. He also has a dresser in our room. I think I need to go shopping! jk


We haven't been doing any projects lately, that's why I never update anymore. We will be doing window trim, base trim, and our back splash probably in the next couple months so there will be some updating for that....and it's starting to warm up so we'll be starting on the outside projects. I'm ready for those (mostly just to be outside in the sun...not $$-wise)!

It Is What It Is.

I wanted to wait until everything was perfectly placed, however that might be a while and I want to show off our house to those who aren't able to come by and see it, so it is what it is.

*When we can afford it, we will put in built-in shelving. And yes, we are still living out of bags and boxes.

*It's our smallest of all, but again, when we can afford it, we will be combining it with the guest bath on the other side of the wall to make our "master suite" complete.

Office

*Haven't done much to this room yet. It will be the nursery someday when we decide to have kids (no, that is not a hint/implication).

Guest Bathroom

*This is the bathroom I use the most. I hated it before we painted/put the flooring in, but it definitely gets its use from me. This is the one on the other side of the wall from the master bath. We will wall it off from this hallway entrance, and will basically move it across the hallway.

*This is the only view I'm putting up because our fridge still isn't here!

Living Room

Black & White Bathroom

*I still want to find some cute decor for the walls, but it basically turned out exactly how I envisioned it! I love it.

Laundry Room

*I am weird and love doing laundry, so I am very excited about this room. We will eventually put up shelving and a sink in here.

Guest Bedroom

*Yes, it is ready for some visitors (and that is a hint)! This is the only room with curtains because this was our bed set from before. The beautiful nightstands are what I have left of my grandparents (mom's parents), and I love them so much. They don't quite go with our bed frame so our guests will have the privilege of using them; and I think that makes this room a "suite."

Bonus Room

*The lighting is kind of bad so you can't really see the acid-stained concrete to the right. The wall isn't finished over there either because of plumbing or what-not, so no pictures yet!

Gym Room

*Not fully equipped, but it's on its way. We have a little TV to the left to watch while exercising, or, in my case, do workout videos/classes! :)

Preview #2

So we aren't completely done with the house. Besides windows, we still have some minor things we are doing before spring to make the inside look awesomely awesome (which it already does). But here are some pictures of how far we were able to get by Christmas (with reminders of what it looked like when we bought it)!

A few delays:

1. Area Rug: Ordered off Overstock.com, they shipped it to Pullman, someone signed for it. There were only two left when I ordered it, and now they're out of stock. **Lane ordered a different one from Amazon with our refund

2. Carpet: We were able to get upstairs and the stairs, but they didn't get our full order in so the downstairs won't be in until January 3rd **We put the scrap pieces down by our couches anyway.

3. Refrigerator: We ordered it about a month ago along with our other appliances. This was our main order, and then we just decided to add the stove/microwave/dishwasher. Delivery was supposed to be 2 weeks ago; still haven't received the fridge. **It was inconvenient as we had people over for Christmas dinner...we made do with the freezing weather out on the deck/the old fridge in the garage.

Nothing too drastic. We have spent 5 nights in our home now, and it's wonderful. Still feels like we are visiting somebody's home sometimes, and we almost feel like we need visitors over all the time to fill the space! But it's feeling more like home the more I put my stuff on the walls and once we get carpet downstairs! I will be posting more pictures with all our little projects! (My black and white bathroom isn't done yet)

Here it is! (Preview)

Between last week and this next week, we have turned our construction zone into a home (the upstairs anyhow). Lane has been going 100mph--little eat, little sleep. I made him take a break last night at least. However, laminate harvest oak flooring is in upstairs (with the exception of a few gaps in the hallway), painting is done upstairs, and I was finally able to put up my Christmas Tree!!

This is just a preview of what's to come this week: Countertops, carpet, appliances, windows, and hopefully get most of the downstairs done. Our goal is to get moving in this Friday and Saturday! Can I get a hoo-rah?!

Busy Busy Busy

Here is our island/breakfast bar! It's all framed in and just needs to be textured and cabinets built in. I already love how open it is now. Next week I will take this same picture but it should have paint, new flooring, and and counter top!

I have finished my wallpaper job! I'm sure a steamer would have worked well, but I used some Dollar Tree vinegar, warm water and a spray bottle and it peeled right off! Cheap, and I should have gone with that from the beginning!

Lane has just been so busy--he's had about 3 jobs going since we got home from California, and when he's not working for those, he's at the house helping Blake install lighting, in the attic doing stuff, sanding the wood downstairs, scraping glue off in the kitchen where the vinyl was, etc. He is one busy man who is due for a nice back massage (from the wife) and a day of rest (Sunday). And besides homework and work for me, all I've been worried about is getting my Christmas decor up! I guess I'll just have to wait it out another week or so. I at least put up a little wreath above my front door! :)
